McClanahan School of Irish Dance

2017 Performer

The McClanahan School of Irish Dance began offering classes for traditional Irish step dancing in 1993. Now, over a decade later, we offer a full range of competitive and recreational classes to accommodate each dancer, from Beginners to Champions. Whatever the purpose, our main goal is to teach Irish step dancing in a positive and fun way.

In addition to competing on local, regional, national, and world stages, the McClanahan School performs throughout Kentuckiana at such venues as the Irish Rover, Molly Maloneís, Irish Fest, Kentucky Center for the Arts, and the Kentucky State Fair as well as at a variety of schools, senior centers, and nursing homes.

The Louisville Irish Dancers

2017 Performer

The Louisville Irish Dancers are a non-competitive, practice and performance based dance school with classes for both experienced and beginners, ages 10 through adult.  We were formed in January 2013 as a sister school to the Lexington Irish Dancers, founded by a former Lexington dancer. Our mission is to cultivate a love of Irish Dance in a non-competitive atmosphere. Our Instructor, Shannon Huelsman, has 17 years of Irish Dance experience. Our classes are separated based on ability, not by age, so that family members may dance together.  We have several mother-daughter groups that dance. We perform at several events around the Louisville, Kentucky area.
