2016 Holiday Party

December 8, 2016 – Molly Malone’s Irish Pub & Restaurant was full of good cheer and holiday “spirits” as the Louisville Irish Fest celebrated the success of the 2016 Festival. While members and friends enjoyed good food and fellowship, along with traditional Celtic carols from Na Skylark (Lorinda Jones & Cathy Wilde), the focus of the evening was to announce five charitable gifts made possible by the Irish Arts Foundation of Kentucky.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Kentucky Homefront: The IAF has donated $1,000 to support the March 11, 2017 Irish music event at the Clifton Center in Louisville, which will feature local and regional performing artists.
  • McClanahan Irish Dancers: Becoming involved in Irish dancing not only teaches respect for Irish culture but also self-confidence, creativity and cooperation. The IAF is pleased to support the school with a donation of $500, to help these young performers share their passion for Irish dancing with the community.
  • Louisville Irish Dancers: Formed in 2013, the Louisville Irish Dancers strive to cultivate a love of Irish dance in a non-competitive atmosphere.  This year, the IAF donated $150 in support of their endeavors.
  • Ancient Order of Hiberians: The oldest Irish Catholic organization in America, the Louisville chapter of the Ancient Order of Hiberians presents numerous events throughout the community, including the annual St. Patrick’s Parade.  The IAF donated $300 to help support this local and beloved organization.
  • Bellarmine University: With a donation of $5,000, the IAF has renewed it’s commitment to help a student study the Irish culture, history or arts in Ireland in partnership with Bellarmine University.

Christmas Party 2015 Recap

2015_ChristmasParty_Music On Thursday, December 10, 2015, members and friends of the Louisville Irish Fest gathered at the Baxter Ave. Molly Malone’s Irish Pub and Restaurant to celebrate the holidays and another successful fest. In addition to the exceptional food, endless glasses of Guinness and wonderful Irish sounds of Na Skylark (Lorinda Jones and Cathy Wilde), much of the evening was spent honoring several local organizations and providing support for their future.

This year’s organizations were:

  • Wounded Warrior Project:  Their mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.  Since 2013, the IAF has been able to donate $2,000 to help them in this mission.
  • Wreaths Across America:  Since 2012, IAF has been a proud part of their mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.  This year, the IAF has donated $1,500 to help honor the fallen soldiers of our community.
  • University of Louisville Autism Center at Kosair Charities:  Since 2012, we are very proud to have been able to donate over $20,000 to help the Autism Center in their mission to improve and enrich the lives of those affected by Autism in our community.
  • Bellarmine University.  This year, the Louisville Irish Fest fulfills our three year, $15,000 commitment to help a student studying the Irish culture, history or arts in Ireland in partnership with Bellarmine Unviersity.

2015 Golf Scramble – Recap

Golfers taking part in the 7th annual LIF/Molly Malone’s Golf Outing were blessed with another fine day for the event. June 8th found us out at beautiful Lake Forest Country Club enjoying a round on the Arnold Palmer golf course. Participants enjoyed a box lunch before heading out. The 18 teams participating took the game very seriously with a good bit of friendly banter taking place before the shotgun start. The event concluded with a delicious buffet dinner in the clubhouse. The top finishing teams were separated by a very narrow margin, but this year’s trophy went to Republic Bank.

Without the support of the players and the companies who generously sponsored holes or provided raffle items, the Irish Arts Foundation would not be able to donate to charities like the STAR program, Wounded Warrior Project and Wreathes Across America. We are looking forward to 2016 and our 8th year for this event.
