Ireland Rising 1916-2016
April 24, 2016 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising. The events of that week in April would have lasting consequences. We invite you to join us in commemorating the 1916 Rising, and learning more about men like Clarke, Pearse and McDonagh and women like Markievicz, Lynn, and O’Farrell as well as many others. Visit our Cultural Center and learn about what happened 100 years ago and how the Irish Republic was born.

As part of the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising, we will take a detailed look at the events of that fateful week in April 1916.
Women of the Rising
Saturday, 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.
Sunday, 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
Pearse, Clarke, and Connolly, all names that easily come to mind, but what about Kathleen Lynn, Constance Markievicz, Hanna Sheehy Skeffington, Mary MacSwiney and literally dozens of other Irish women who played a very real role in the Rising. Often risking as much as their male counterparts, but many times doing so unarmed. We will shed a little light on their stories.

Who were the leaders that planned the insurrection? We will take a closer look at men such as; the seven signatories of the Proclamation, as well as, such individuals as Eoin MacNeill, The O’Reilly, and Roger Casement.

Joining us in the Cultural area, located in Frazier Hall, will be renowned Genealogist, author of 60 books, and host of the Irish Roots Café Mike O’Laughlin. Mike will share his knowledge of the ins and outs of Irish Genealogy to help get you started on your search for your Irish ancestors.
